Astrology and Christianity have had a complex and shifting relationship throughout history. There have been times when Christians openly embraced astrology and other periods when it was completely renounced by the Church. My research reveals that early Christians were quite approving of astrology, particularly when it helped advance Christianity in its formative years—an era when the faith was not yet widely accepted.
It is well known that, in order to gain relevance, Church leaders had to adapt their teachings to existing Pagan and pre-Christian traditions. This process began as early as 313 CE, when the Edict of Milan legalized Christianity. Pagan rituals and beliefs were incorporated into Christian practice, many of which are still observed today. Examples include:
Christmas: Jesus’ birth was aligned with the Roman festival of Sol Invictus (The Unconquered Sun).
Easter: The Christian holiday replaced Eostre, a pre-Christian Anglo-Saxon goddess associated with fertility and the spring …
