At the time of this New Moon, we see Mercury (ruler of Gemini) in opposition to Jupiter (ruler of Sagittarius). Mercury is the planet of the intellect, communication, and daily mental processes, while Jupiter represents wisdom, expansion, and higher beliefs. When these two are opposed, we may feel the need to examine our beliefs, integrate new ideas, and perhaps challenge old ways of thinking. Are we open to evolving our beliefs? We could be facing some new insights or shifting perspectives that require us to leave behind old thought patterns and make room for higher wisdom.

Mars-Pluto Opposition: Revisiting Our Actions and Motivations
Meanwhile, the Mars-Pluto opposition is still in play. Mars represents action, while Pluto is the planet of transformation. The tension between these two can bring up questions about the motivations behind our actions: What are we fighting for?
While the Mercury-Jupiter opposition is a mutable opposition, the Mars-Pluto opposition occurs in fixed signs, inviting us to evaluate the “fixed” things in our lives — our long-held beliefs, our behaviors, and the ways we interact with the world. Are we still aligned with our purpose? Or are there parts of ourselves we’ve been holding onto that are ready for transformation?
Saturn Squares the New Moon: Doubt and Delays
Saturn, the planet of structure, responsibility, and boundaries, forms a challenging square to the New Moon in Sagittarius. This can bring a sense of limitation or doubt, especially when we’re feeling the pull to take action or make changes. Saturn’s energy often manifests as a roadblock or delay, and during this New Moon, we may encounter inner or outer resistance to our new direction.
It’s also possible that we will be confronted with familiar doubts and insecurities, especially if we’ve experienced similar feelings in the past when embarking on new beginnings. While this might feel discouraging, Saturn can also help us clarify what is real and true. It’s an opportunity to ground our vision with discipline, structure, and persistence, ensuring that our new beliefs and actions are sustainable in the long term.
Mercury Square Neptune: Intuition vs. Logic
Mercury in its square to Neptune during the New Moon can cloud our rational thinking. We may find that our logical minds are at odds with our intuition during this time. If you're considering signing contracts or making agreements, it’s best to hold off. Mercury-Neptune squares are notorious for making things seem clearer than they really are, and Neptune’s influence can lead us to overlook key details. Trust your instincts, but make sure to double-check the facts before moving forward.
A Grand Trine in Fire: Desire for Action and Change
Amidst all the complexity, there’s also a Fire Grand Trine between Mars in Leo, the North Node in Aries, and the New Moon in Sagittarius. This creates an abundance of action-oriented energy and a desire to take risks, make bold moves, and blaze new trails. It’s a time when we may feel compelled to take action on our desires and personal growth.
However, with so many other conflicting aspects in the sky, we need to be mindful of rushing ahead without fully understanding the consequences. Mercury and Neptune’s influences, in particular, urge caution when it comes to making impulsive decisions or taking risks. It’s a great time to start thinking about change, but make sure you have a clear understanding of where you’re going before you jump in.
Upcoming Transits:
Venus enters Aquarius: Venus moves into Aquarius, bringing a fresh energy to our relationships and sense of beauty. Venus in Aquarius values individuality, independence, and unconventional expressions of love. This is a good time to explore what makes you unique and how you can honor your individuality in relationships. However, Aquarius is a fixed sign, so there can be a tendency toward being rigid or inconsistent in how we relate to others.
Neptune Goes Direct on December 8th: As Neptune stations direct in Pisces, we may feel like we're emerging from a fog. The clarity Neptune offers can help us better understand our dreams, visions, and the deeper spiritual currents at play. This is a time to begin moving forward with the dreams that have felt elusive or unclear. Neptune direct also invites us to assess the illusions we’ve been holding on to — what’s real and what’s been a fantasy?
As we navigate these complex transits, remember that the New Moon in Sagittarius invites us to expand our horizons, explore new beliefs, and take courageous steps forward. But we’re also being asked to do this with care, patience, and reflection. With Mercury retrograde, Mars preparing to go retrograde, and Neptune squaring Mercury, it’s a moment to pause, reevaluate, and make sure we’re aligned with our highest purpose before making any bold moves.
IMPORTANT NOTE TO PAID SUBSCRIBERS:
I have been contemplating my plans for this podcast going forward into the New Year. At this time, I am considering putting the podcast on hiatus, while continuing to offer readings. Podcasts are incredibly time consuming with the recording and editing, and time is something I don’t have a lot of these days. I am also considering brining on other astrologers who may be interested in teaming up to offer New and Full Moon readings here. If you are interested in this and would like to have a conversation about what this could look like, please get in touch with me.
