The Nodes, or Lunar Nodes as they are often called, are not planets or actual objects, but mathematically determined points in space where the ecliptic—the sun’s apparent orbit—intersects the moon’s orbit. Everyone has a North and South Node in their personal chart, and we have a collective North and South Node as well.
The Nodes, also known as the Nodes of Destiny, represent a person's karmic or spiritual journey. They provide guidance regarding the direction we can aim our lives—indicated by the North Node—and energy that we have already mastered, indicated by the South Node. The North and South Nodes are always exactly opposite one another on a chart, occupying opposite signs that are 180 degrees apart. The nodal axis returns to the position it was in at our birth every 18-19 years, which is called a Nodal Return. The approximate ages when you’ll have a Nodal Return are: 18, 36, 54, 72, and 90.
