Whenever there is an eclipse it is always during the time of a new moon, when the moon is conjunct (next to) the sun. In this video I describe what a hybrid solar eclipse is and why this energy is so unique.
Pluto is talking to us very deliberately through the energies of this chart, so yes, there is intensity involved, as Pluto bestows transformation. The intense eclipse energy is an activation and invitation to new, more authentic ways of being—albeit powerful and often uncomfortable—especially felt if you have planets or points at or around 29 degrees of the cardinal points.
